Who Buys Our Floors?

With so many “Modern Floor” options available today, our customers ultimately ask themselves a series of questions before making a decision to buy reclaimed wood flooring from us. Some of the more common questions are:

  • What types of homes have reclaimed wood floors?

  • Will reclaimed wood floors last long?

  • Can I take care of wood floors?

  • Are reclaimed wood floors waterproof?

  • Can I afford reclaimed wood floors?

Let’s look at each question in a little detail. Reclaimed wood floors can accentuate almost any home. Most of our customers have Rustic or Farmhouse types of homes such as mountain cabins, log cabins, lake houses, barndaminims and modern farmhouses. Some of our customers have traditional, formal and even contemporary homes. We love finding a perfect fit for every aestetic and style.

Will Reclaimed Floors last long? With simple maintenance, your floors should last literally hundreds of years. Europe is full buildings, churches and homes with wood floors that have been there for hundreds of years. Wood floors are very repairable too! For example, if you have a plumbing leak and a portion of your floors are not salvagable, they can be patched and replaced easily. When working with tile, or prefinished and engineered floors, typically the entire floor is wasted because you cannot find that exact product to patch it with.

Can I take care of wood floors? We think maintenance is somewhat simple… As long as your floors are properfly finished in polyurethane, wiping up spills and dusting the floors are the 2 main things to think about. The wood will scratch with something razor sharp, and dent with a pound of something heavy, but these aquired imperfections are what we think make a house a home and give it character, warmth and life.

Are wood floors waterproof? The answer here also has a lot to do with the finishing. Considering ships were made of wood, we think our floors are able to withstand water. The main thing to remember is to wipe up spills, and if you suspect a plumbing leak, get it checked out. We’ve raised a family on our floors, have 5 pets, and all is good with ours <3.

Can I afford reclaimed wood floors? We like to think that we have an option for everyone. Our prices start at $2 a squre foot, with most hovering between $3-$4, and we do have some in the $8-$12 range. Realtors agree that genuine wood floors are an invenstment that brings value to a home making them sell faster and for more money. If reclaimed wood floors are within your budget, we say give it a try! You will fall in love with the long boards, character, patina, charm, and their uniqueness. Your guests will notice them, and your family will love being raised on them.
